Bulgaria, Bulgaria, Bulgaria
WOW WOW WOW!!! I still cant believe I am here! There are horse drawn carts, herds of goats roaming the town, and eurotrash boys and girls galore! I am located in a small town called Strelcha. It is very tiny, about 5,000 people and a million goat turds on the street.
I got to language class 4 hours a day with 4 other peace corps traniees (pct's) It is the end of the first week of classes and I think I have learned a lot. I can order beer in the cafe's, and really that's all that's important, right?
Seriously though, the people are truly amazing. So warm and welcoming...they make me feel right at home. My family is awesome. The house is big and clean and super comfortable. They have a beautiful garden and for dinner we feast on the bounties of the garden. Sweet tomatoes and delicious cucumbers. Every night before dinner Georgi (my host father), and grandpa partake in rakiya and cigarettes. What more could i ask for???
Baba Dink see's me off to school every morning with a kiss and a hug. I feel like a kid again. So far the Peace Corps rocks. Next Wed. we travel to Pazardjik for our first HUB meeting. I cant wait to see the other volunteers, especially my ex-roomie Kate. She's a kick-ass chica. Well, that's about it for now. I found a much better internet cafe than the other one I went to so my entries will be coming much more often.
On the menu for tonight-----Drinking and the Discoteque! A well earned fridaynight! Ive started already so if there's lots of typos...kiss my butt...hehe just kidding! Love you all immensly and miss you all terribly...MAMA...I wrote you a nice long letter via snail mail....kisses and hugs...Peace Out, SHaina Rose

This is Jamie:
YAY! I'm so glad you finally posted; i've been checking daily like a mad man and get so dissapointed when the screen comes up and there's nothing new to read! :(
See! I told you, you would have a nice family-not the texas chainsaw family.
Can we send you packages at the address that Jen sent us?
Everything is the same here. Well, not totally the same-every friday I almost always pick up the phone and try to call your dad's house to see where we're going to go and tear up the town at. and then sadly with a tear in my eye, I realize that the next time were going to be together is in Bulgaria! Loren got a job at a travel agency so now Dara and I have hookups for super, super cheap flights, which means that maybe we can stay longer! So save up those vacation days, girl, cause California is coming to you!
Love you and miss you! Let me know if you can get stuff, cause I get free postage, and I desperatly want to spend it on you!
Smooches!

Hi my darling girl. I am so glad you are happy and that you love your family. I hope I get to meet them when we come next summer, but you won't be living with them, and will probably be in a different town. But maybe you can take us to meet them. I am waiting eagerly for your letter. There is one on the way to you too. I wonder how long they will take to get to their destinations. I will send another this week. But no packages, right? School is going along OK, a big job to teach all new stuff in a new school. I had everything down pat there at Compton. So sad. But my wonderful husband is worth it. It is hot and rainy here. Huge lightning storms yesterday and today. Hope I don't have to drive to work in it tomorrow. Hope it will be clear. I checked the web for Bulgaria and a bunch of young people were on there to talk to. (I didn't, of course). But I thought that wow, there are lots of interesting young people there, and Shaina will like it.
Can you read anything yet? Or are you just learning oral language at this point. Your comments about Baba Dink makes me think of that old song by Kate Bush: Babooshka, babooshka. Do you remember it? I always loved that song....
And I love you!!!!!!! And I miss you!!!!!!!!!!!!
